A 66-year-old man will face court in Coffs Harbour today over the murder of Duncan Campbell in February 2024.

A 66-year-old man will face court today, charged over the murder of Duncan Campbell in Coffs Harbour in February last year.

Police will allege in court the man bludgeoned Campbell to death with a steel pole.

Just before 3pm on Wednesday, detectives arrested a 66-year-old man in Coffs Harbour.

A day before the arrest, NSW Police offered a $500,000 reward for anyone with information about Campbell's death.

The timeline

2024

Sunday February 4: Father of five, Duncan Campbell, then aged 58, is last seen on Albany Street, Coffs Harbour.

Friday February 9: Campbell is reported missing.

Monday February 12: Local police locate Campbell’s body in bushland on John Champion Way near his campsite at City Hill.

2025

Tuesday February 18: Detectives make a public appeal for information and announce a $500,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Campbell’s murder.

Wednesday February 19: Just over a year after Campbell’s body was found, an arrest is made. At about 2.50pm detectives arrest a 66-year-old man in Coffs Harbour.

The man is taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station, where he is charged with murder.

Thursday, February 20: He is scheduled to face Coffs Harbour Local Court.
