Word on the street in Port Macquarie: Taxing the mining giants is the biggest deciding factor for this young voter

The Mid North Coaster is speaking with people across the region, asking them about the issues that will sway their vote ahead of this year's federal election.

In the last few weeks, we’ve been taking to the streets to ask Mid North Coast residents about the issues that will be deciding their vote for the upcoming election on May 3.

Housing affordability, cost of living pressures, healthcare access are just some of the issues we’ve heard so far.

On the pavements of Port Macquarie, a young voter told the Mid North Coaster taxing the mining giants was the biggest issue deciding his vote for the election.

He went on to say that doing so would bring money back into Australia. He is also a supporter of renewable energy.

“Climate change is a big one too, and that goes hand in hand with mining and renewable energies as well,” the interviewee told the Mid North Coaster.

“Renewable energy, one hundred percent we need to go through with that.”
